Hair Minimize
Florida WeaveMatter of TrustHair vs. Conventional

The Great Florida Weave

The Great Florida Weave has collected over 600 pounds of hair and fur
clippings and has made hair booms that have been deployed in our great
state's panhandle and other regions affected by the oil spill.
Thousands of pounds of hair is cut, shaved and discarded daily. Hair
naturally attracts oil - it's the reason we have to shampoo. This hair
is simply stuffed into hosiery and then placed inside mesh or shrimp
bags. Many videos have been uploaded on www.thegreatfloridaweave.com  documenting their superior performance over traditional booms.

The media has discounted hair booms due to BP's cool reaction to using
them. Many parishes, local municipalities, indian reservations, private
residences, and water front businesses are using hair booms effectively
right now. BP, so far, is not using them, but BP is also quickly running
out of industrial booms, and have poorly managed those they have deployed.

Florida should be prepared to receive minimal assistance or at the very
least a slow BP response. Removing the oil before it invades our many
miles of coastal waters, mangroves, interior waterways, and beaches is
The Great Florida Weaves number one objective. These booms made by
volunteers will be given freely and timely to those who need them. We
firmly believe that anything that can be used to help with this
ecological disaster should be.

Thank you for your support in this great effort to help protect our
valuable coast lines. Visit www.thegreatfloridaweave.com

*We currently need hosiery, mesh, and shrimp bags. We purchase our
shrimp bags directly from the fishermen affected, therefore monetary
contributions preferred. By purchasing directly from them the fisherman
families receive a bit of much needed revenue and know their bags are
helping to clean the waters they so love.
